Why are best scented candles are made with fragrance oils?

There is a big similarity between fragrance and music: it contains three sets of notes which all come together to create a harmonious accord, each note contains an array of scents. The art of making a fragrance is balancing the perfect combination of the top, middle and base notes together:

⁃ The top notes, also referred to as the head notes, these are usually 15-25% of the fragrance. This is the sent you usually smell first, as they are on top they tend to evaporate the fastest.
⁃ The middle notes, these can also be referred to as heart notes they are typically 30-40% of the end fragrance. They are the body, and are smelt after the top layer has evaporated.
⁃ The base notes, these give the fragrance the “staying power” they make up 40-55% of the fragrance. if the fragrance had no base notes the fragrance would evaporate quickly and wouldn’t provide the long lasting smell you would usually get.
